WORKSHOP WITH JESS WOODROW
This final workshop of the ‘Drawing', what is it ?’ series will explore ways to begin drawing. Many things can act as a stimulus for picking up a drawing implement, some of which we may not even be aware of. We will be working with groups of words and allowing them to form images from our memories straight onto paper. We will also explore the sensual side of drawing and find out…..or remember! why there is no such thing as a blank canvas!
In the first half we will begin by quickly working on a few drawings which we will then look at, talk about, admire and reflect on…..then in the second half, we will choose one of those drawings to develop into a finished piece.
Bring any materials that are special to you, but more importantly, bring a few bits and pieces that you are willing to put in a ‘pool’ in the middle, like a pot luck dinner. I will bring some different kids of paper etc too. This is so any materials used can be chosen spontaneously.
This should be a fun and hopefully chatty workshop, that will encourage us to make quick (and maybe passionate!) judgements about our choices of materials and subject matter.
