Julie Rising

Julie is currently living in Cwmcych in Carmarthenshire and is a second year Fine Art student at Carmarthen School of Art and will graduate in 2024.

Since continuously drawing patterns in childhood she has continued to be creative throughout her life, whilst pursuing a nursing career of 30 yrs.

Her visual personal work is intuitive, emotive and abstract. She experiments with a variety of mediums. Acrylic, collage, oil pastel and ink being her main materials for her mark making, her lively use of colour is with minimal palettes, either harmonious or complimentary.

Sometimes adding abstracted still life objects within it. Or allowing the abstracted results to shape a form organically. The marks are both structured and unstructured, showing opposite areas of thoughtful quiet and precise detailed noise with balance. She says this is akin to her personality and how the world affects her!
