DILYS JACKSON - “ SPAN “
LAND FORMS AND POLLEN
a sculptor with an established international reputation
Born in Sri Lanka, studied at the Slade School of Art and Swansea, now living and working in a studio in Butetown Artists Studios, Cardiff,
Dilys Jackson is a sculptor with an established international reputation.
She has travelled and worked in Europe, America, Canada, United Arab Emirates,
Scandinavia and Canada. She has frequently undertaken commissions in he UK and Canada.
Jackson's work is abstract and derives from her keen interest in land forms and nature.
She uses a variety of materials such as bronze, steel, wood and iron.
The sculptures she produces express her connections with the environment around her and those on show at Oriel Q, Narberth are derived from Jackson's current interest in pollen forms. These tiny forms are made large in the sculptures that are skilfully worked technically and beautifully coloured and finished.
Related drawings and drawings of land forms also feature in the exhibition.
There is no doubt that Jackson is a prolific sculptor and she decided to become one at the age of seven. She has successfully sustained her ambition throughout her life.
Artist and writer Robert Mc.Donald commented, "Deeply sensitive and intellectual,
Dilys Jackson is one of Wales's most daring artistic explorers".
Here is a sculptor at the height of their creative powers.
"Span" is a must, must see exhibition at Oriel Q Narberth.
